The AIMultimediaLab is lead by Professor Bogdan IONESCU

He is a tenured professor with the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest within the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications, and Information Technology. He holds a double PhD degree in machine learning from Politehnica Bucharest and University of Savoie, France, respectively.

He serves/served as reviewer, editor, conference general chair, committee member, organizer/co-organizer for many top tier journals and conferences, workshops and benchmark campaigns. He attracted over 35 national/international research grants, strategic programs, and industry projects with leading companies, totaling over 36M Euros in funding.

He also has a long-time experience in coordinating and managing educational and research groups, e.g., as director of the ETTI doctoral school or president, vice-rector, of the CAMPUS Research Institute.
